The Gambling Files

Welcome to The Gambling Files, home of the gambling industry’s favourite podcast and much, much more.

We decided to branch out a bit, so we’ve launched an offshoot podcast (Dessert Island Discs), have another launch planned very soon, and of course we are the people behind The Gambling Book Awards.

Also on this site, you can find long-form articles which are originals we have commissioned because we thought they’d be interesting. Have a look around, we are confident you will find something you like.

Infrequently Asked Questions

A collection of the oddly specific, rarely spoken, yet somehow important questions.

It started life as a podcast and has grown to become several things, most of which are unique in the gambling industry. The original podcast has been running for well over 200 episodes and still goes out weekly; we have now added TGF Presents: Dessert Island Discs, where industry execs and thought leaders talk about their lives within the format of being stranded on a tropical island. We have also launched the Gambling Book Awards (www.gamblingbookawards.com). And finally, we launched the podcast Addiction: An Hour With Auer, with world-leading gambling addiction expert Dr Michael Auer.

The main podcast episode is available via your favourite podcast outlet, or you can find the latest episodes here. If it’s not available where you usually find your podcasts, please let us know and we will get right on to fixing that.
Fairly recently we also started a YouTube channel but because our guests get to choose whether we record audio or video, not every episode ends up there.

The main podcast ‘The Gambling Files’ lands weekly on a Thursday; Dessert Island Discs will be landing weekly on a Wednesday, and Addiction episodes land on a Tuesday.

It’s our sexy new-ish launch, where guests get to choose what items keep them company while they’re stranded on a tropical island. The questions are designed to get people talking about their lives and their journey up to this point, and to think about what’s important to them.
They get to choose:
3 albums
3 books
3 movies
1 song (not on the albums)
1 pet, from any time in their lives
1 object
1 dessert
…and 2 pieces of advice: one from their younger self to their older self, and one from older to younger – and they get to choose when the advice is received.
Guests tend to be C-suite and/or ‘thought leaders’ in the industry. If you think you know someone that would make a good guest, please email us and we will see what we can do…

That’s a great question, you must have very attractive parents and be well-liked in your social group.
Our newest addition is about addiction, taking a holistic look at the problem by talking to experts from around the world in many different fields. Gambling addiction will always be at the heart of this but it will delve into a wide variety of topics, studies and papers.
Jon co-hosts with Dr Michael Auer, one of the world’s leading researchers on gambling addiction, to gain insights into… well, pretty much everything, really.
